The Schoolroom

The Schoolroom is based in Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills and enables pupils to experience, in role, school as it was in the past. The available sessions provide a ‘Living History’ experience and have for many years’ excited and motivated Leeds school children in their quest to discover more about children long ago and their school life.

Victorian school

The activities link with the New National History curriculum topics Local History and/or a study over time beyond 1066, via themed topics of Children in the Past and Unlock in the Past.

The Schoolroom is a valuable resource for stimulating and enriching literacy in the classroom as well as supporting and enriching many other curriculum areas.
