This new group is funded by Leeds Music Education Partnership and run by DJ School UK from their studio in central Leeds. Those who take part will have the opportunity to learn how to scratch and beat juggle by collaborating with others using the DJ turntable as an instrument. Beat Team Ensemble is open to young people aged 11-18 and will run every Thursday for 10 weeks at 5.30pm-7.30pm. DJ School UK is a non-profit social enterprise teaching DJ and Music Production skills to anyone of any age and ability. We believe:
1) DJs are musicians
2) The Turntable is a musical instrument
3) Learning to DJ helps people develop self-confidence, communication, team work and musical skills.
4) DJing is easy and accessible at first but can be as hard as you can handle. It is fun, rewarding, a pathway into all music and a possible career.
DJ School UK is based at Yorkshire Dance, 3 St. Peter’s Square, Leeds LS9 8AH
