Leeds Music Education Partnership (LMEP) and ArtForms extends a huge thank you to all the schools and delivery partners who returned their annual Music Data form.
Your contributions have enabled us to present Arts Council England with a really comprehensive picture of music opportunities available for children and young people across the city.
We’ve been able to report that over 11,500 children learn to play an instrument as a whole class every week. Together with those who choose to continue playing an instrument, that makes 24,000 having a lesson in school or at a music centre every week.
You’ve also told us about 671 ensembles that children can join, ranging from School Choirs to DJ Ensembles, Jazz Bands to Symphony Orchestras, Folk Groups to Youth Opera, Rock Groups to Brass Bands, and SEND Choirs to i-Pad Orchestras, plus everything else in between.
We can be truly proud of the musical opportunities we as a city provide for all our children.
