North Leeds Music Centre is running a FREE summer club at Roundhay School (Old Park Road, LS8 1ND), open to all learners in the Roundhay / Chapel Allerton / Moortown areas. If you are outside of these areas we may still be able to fit you in – please email north.leeds.music.centre@leeds.gov.uk and we’ll see what we can do.
OPTION 1 – JUST PLAY (ages 8-11)
If you are either a total beginner or have been having whole class music lessons at school, this is for you.… Over the three days you’ll work in a small group to build up from the basics on ukuleles, keyboards and other instruments towards a group performance at the end of the final day. You’ll be amazed at how quickly it all comes together!
OPTION 2 – MINI ORCHESTRA (ages 8-18)
If you’ve been learning a string, brass or woodwind instrument for a year or more, this is a chance to take things to the next stage. You’ll spend the first half of the morning working in a small group depending what instrument you play, followed by a session with everyone playing together, building up towards a performance on the final day.
OPTION 3 – ROCK BAND (ages 8-18)
If you’ve been learning guitar, bass, drums, keyboards or any other rock-friendly instrument (vocalists welcome!), this is the group for you. You will be working in a group of players of similar age and ability, supported by expert tutors from ArtForms, towards a final day performance of well-known songs and/or your own material!
The sessions run from 10am till 1pm across all three days, with a performance for parents at midday on the final day. A creche will be available for younger siblings.
