DESCRIPTION:This summer we’re bringing back our fantastic summer workshops in our music centres!\nThe Horsforth and North Leeds workshops will take place over several days and the Rothwell and Wetherby workshops will each be a single day. They will include opportunities to learn new instruments\, develop your skills and play with other musicians. The following activities are on offer for children and young people aged 8 and over:\n\n3-Day Orchestra: If you’ve already been learning a string\, woodwind or brass instrument for a year or more\, join the orchestra and get ready to perform a piece together in just 3 days! You will start off working in a small group\, then join with other players in a larger group\, to get ready for a short performance on the final day.\nRock Band Calling all guitarists\, drummers\, bassists and singers! If you’ve been playing a year or more\, you can come and form a band in 3 days\, lean about playing\, songwriting and arranging in a group setting\, and perform at the end of the last day\nJust Play: For total beginners\, choose a brass\, woodwind or string instrument and learn to play a tune in 3 days! Whether you’re a total beginner or already know the basics\, this is a great chance to play in a group and develop new skills. DESCRIPTION:Due to the success of our previous Autumn project\, Leeds City Art Gallery and Leeds Music Education Partnership (LMEP) have teamed up once again to bring you an immersive Arts project which all schools can register a class for during the summer term. This FREE Art and Music project is aimed at KS2 and KS3 children and will take place in Leeds Art Gallery on selected dates in the summer term. \nProject outline: \n\nThis project will link Art activities with music composition and improvisation through a common theme.\nLeeds Art Gallery will host an online gallery visit for each visiting school\, and introduce the themes of the visit and provide interactive activities prior to the session at the Gallery.\nA morning or afternoon visit for a designated class to the Art gallery either on Friday 28th June or Friday 12th July\, which will include an opportunity to make music and art in the gallery space\, and gives the chance for children to explore the latest Art exhibition at the gallery.\n\n  \nThe project is fully funded by Leeds Art gallery and LMEP\, and you will be able to get support with transport costs to the Art Gallery via LMEP’s innovative grant. Two-form entry schools are welcome to take part.
