Juniper are a group of musicians who specialise in creating a contemporary slant on folk music and are current part of the Leeds International Concert Season. They will be teaming up with our very own Roots Alive\, our Youth music folk group to create a fantastic opportunity for skill sharing\, workshops and performances. \nWe have aimed the day at students who play any string\, wind\, guitar or percussion instruments and who can play to around grade 3 ABRSM standard. DESCRIPTION:As part of the composers’ project that we have been involved in we have been offered a fantastic opportunity to be working alongside Nikki Iles. \nNikki Iles is running a workshop with us and we’re having an extended session of 5pm-9pm on Tuesday 28th January 2025. \nNikki is a huge figure in British jazz as a pianist\, composer\, and bandleader. She has recorded extensively both as a leader and as a side woman and has taught at some of the best conservatoires across the UK and Europe\, including Leeds College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her pieces are regularly accepted onto the jazz and classical syllabuses for ABRSM.

DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce the ArtForms Brass Development Day 2025. There has been a large amount of brass development work going on in Leeds over the last year. This is the first opportunity for a number of newly established training brass bands to join together with other brass learners across the city to make music on a larger scale. They will be teaming up with our very own youth music groups Leeds Schools’ Brass Ensemble (LSBE) and Leeds Schools’ Wind Orchestra (LSWO)\, to create a fantastic opportunity for skill sharing\, workshops and performances. \nWe have aimed the day at students (Y4 and above) who play any brass instruments and who have been playing for at least one year. We would like to extend the invitation to any students having private lessons or non-Artforms school tuition. \nThere is no charge for taking part\, but parents and carers are responsible for transport to and from Pudsey Civic Hall on the day.  Rehearsals will be staffed by qualified ArtForms teachers. DESCRIPTION:On Friday 14th March – 10:00-3:00 at Pudsey Civic Hall\, we are hosting the return of our annual secondary vocal workshop and performance event with Craig Lees of Leeds Conservatoire and Living Vocally.  All secondary schools in Leeds are invited to take part in this event for individual singers and choirs from KS3\, KS4 and 6th form.  The structure of the day will be to learn 2 pop song arrangements in multiple parts and then to perform them en masse at the end of the day.  Regular breaks will be planned throughout the day to protect voices.  All participating schools will be provided with sheet music of Craig’s arrangements so that choirs can perform them back in school and/or groups of singers can rehearse their parts and record for exam coursework submissions.  This will also lead to an exciting performance opportunity as part of a Leeds secondary schools choir in July 2025 – details to be announced soon.  Both events are fully funded by ArtForms as part of the new West Yorkshire Music Hub\, with no charge to Leeds schools.  Booking details to follow.  For more information please contact Jane.Roe@leeds.gov.uk.

DESCRIPTION:An Interactive Performance Event for Key Stage 1 from Music Connect fully funded by the West Yorkshire Music Hub (WYMH) \nOn Friday 28th March Music Connect\, led by ArtForms\, will host our seventh annual Little Sing for Key Stage 1. This is an immersive Musical Experience for children where they are the performers as well as the audience. \nThe children always love the session of singing\, playing instruments and moving as do the adults who attend. \nHere’s what some of the schools had to say about last year’s Little Sing which was called Jump Into The Jungle – \n‘Thank you so much for the Little Sing last week. The children got back on the coach singing ‘Jump into the Jungle’ and we sang two of the songs to start my class music session on Tuesday. The work that had gone into it from your side was phenomenal\, so please say thank you to everyone involved from us at Five Lanes!’ \nKids could all join in at their own level – it wasn’t about getting it perfect.  A good fun and free feel\, made making music fun – so important!  Kirkstall Valley \n‘It was engaging for the children and the costumes and props were fantastic. They will be working with students from across the city to offer a range workshops\, masterclasses and performance opportunities throughout this exciting one-day event. \nWe have aimed the day at students who play any string or woodwind instrument and who can play to around grade 5 standard or above and are currently in Key Stages 4 or 5.  We would like to extend the invitation to any students having private lessons or non-Artforms school tuition. \nIf your child wishes to take part\, please complete this online form by Friday 28th February 2025.
