SUMMARY:Summer Music Camp - Leeds Junior Conservatoire
DESCRIPTION:This one-day event is perfect for children and young people aged 8-14 who are interested in learning about music and creating their own song. They will get hands on experience in song writing and leave with a recording of their own song.\nChildren will be grouped by age (8-10\, and 11-14). All instruments and singers are welcome\, but to get the most out of the day it’s recommended that the children and young people have been playing for at least a year. \nIn the morning they will learn about song writing\, different starting points for writing music\, how to structure a song\, create their own melodies and write lyrics. After lunch they will be performing their song ready to be recorded at the end of the day. \nBursaries\nThere are bursaries available for children from households with lower incomes. When communications with Earth fail\, however\, and all hope seems lost\, how will the crew navigate their way out of the unknown …” \nLaura Attridge (librettist) – “I am honoured to be a part of the celebration of Leeds Youth Opera’s 50th anniversary\, particularly as a Yorkshire lass\, myself! DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 1st July\, Horsforth Music Centre will be offering the opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to get involved with a host of FREE musical activities.\nFor accomplished (and not-so-accomplished!) players\, there will be the opportunity to join in with existing Music Centre groups\, including the Concert Band\, Adult String Orchestra Beginner Orchestra and Junior Rock Band. For total beginners as young as 3\, there are drop-in sessions including singalongs\, music and movement and body percussion. There are also special one off activities for keyboard and guitar players\, and a folk jam session! \nThe open day is part of Horsforth Walk of Art\, and there will also be the opportunity to hear the Music Centre’s Blues Band\, Jazz Band\, Salsa Band and Dixieland Jazz Band at Horsforth Farmer’s Market during the morning. \nFor full details of the sessions on offer\, please see the flyer.
