This  session is designed to give an overview of the key aspects of leading Art, Craft and Design in a primary school context.  With reference to the Art, Craft and Design Programme of Study and the Ofsted Framework, delegates will consider planning, progression and assessment in Art.   Although the training will be delivered through Teams, the session will be hands on and there will be a number of practical tasks.   These are designed for non- Art specialists and will support the development of delegate’s skills, knowledge and confidence in Art.   Examples of good practice will be shared and there will be lots of opportunity for questions and discussion.

Suitable for primary Art subject leaders or class teachers, this is a great opportunity to develop your practical art skills.

Drawing can be a fantastic tool for communication and can be used in subjects across the curriculum. Get Drawing! will explore skills progression in drawing through a range of practical skills and activities.  The Art in the Natural Environment session will highlight the connection between art and science and will provide delegates with the opportunity to experience the benefits and advantages of outdoor learning.

Making the Most of Sketchbooks is a half day training course which aims to develop teacher’s understanding of how and when to use sketchbooks, so they become a valuable and meaningful learning resource.  The session will take place on the 15th November 2017, 1pm – 4pm.  For further information, please see the Sketchbooks Flyer

Excellent Art, Craft and Design is a full day training course, delivered by Susan Coles.  The day will look at skills progression, planning and assessment, with a particular focus on painting and drawing.  The session will take place on the 31st January, 9am – 4pm.   For further information, please see the Sketchbooks Flyer

Both training sessions will have practical activities embedded within them.

Susan Coles, a national art and design education specialist, will look at how the Art and Design curriculum can be delivered effectively in school, exploring planning, progression and assessment.

The day is designed to increase your confidence in leading Art and Design.  It will also provide you with a national context, including information about career opportunities with the creative and cultural industries.
