Not being able to hold our Big Sing at the Town Hall this term has been a huge disappointment for us.  However, we’re pleased to let you know of a way that you can still take part in a Big Sing this year – virtually, of course!

Date & Time: Friday 19th June 2020 at 2pm on YouTube!

We have joined forces with Norfolk Music Hub, and many other Music Hubs across the UK, and would like to invite you to join the country wide ‘Virtual Big Sing’ taking place this Friday afternoon.  Using live streaming on YouTube, you will experience ‘Singing with the Stars’ – including artists Jessie J, Nicola Roberts and Camilla Kerslake.  All of this hosted by the amazing Mark De Lisser and accessed from the comfort of your own home, or classroom!

For further information, and to register for the event, please follow the link below.  Both schools and individual students (via parents) can register for the event.  You will receive a secure link on Friday morning to enable you to join the session.  Any problems with registering, please contact educ.artforms@leeds.gov.uk and we will send you the link without a need to register directly.

All songs in the Virtual Big Sing will be subtitled and there is no need to learn anything before the event – just turn up and sing your heart out!  Resources are available in advance from the YuMu area on Charanga for schools who have a licence and wish to check out the songs beforehand! If you don’t have a Charanga licence, you can click here to access a playlist of the songs we’ll be singing.

After Easter we will review the situation with regards to the Big Play scheduled for Tuesday 16th June and the Big Sing scheduled for Wednesday 17th June, both at Leeds Town Hall.

For the third year the LSMA (Leeds Schools Music Association) will be running the Leeds ‘Big Sing’ and ‘Finale’ concerts.   We will be singing songs from a book called SIngathlon written for primary aged pupils  – it’s all about taking part.  The Finale will be a song called ‘Power in Me’ by Rebecca Lawrence.

All Key Stage 2 primary pupils  are welcome to join in with the Leeds Big Sing on Wednesday the 22^nd June.  It will run from 1.00pm to 2.30pm.   There are also still places for Year 5 and 6 pupils in the Festival Choir for the Finale concert which will take place on the evening of Thursday 23^rd June.

LSMA Choir Application 2016

On Thurday 28^th at Leeds City Academy at 4.30pm, music will be distributed and there will be a run through of the songs.  Hope to see you there!

This highlight of the summer calendar, will be preceded by The Big Play (15th June) and The Big Sing (16th June, 1pm – 2.30), where children from schools across Leeds will participate in singing and playing music collaboratively.   A date not to be missed!
