The City of Leeds Youth Orchestra (CLYO) and City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra (CLYWO) are now accepting applications for audition for all instruments for 2020-21.

The deadline for applications is 2pm on Wednesday 30th September 2020.

Applications can be returned by email to Catherine at catherine.lloyd@leeds.gov.uk, or by post to ArtForms, Pudsey Civic Hall, Dawson’s Corner, Leeds, LS28 5TA. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we advise that you return your application by email to ensure that you meet the deadline.

Audition slots will be allocated in the first week of October.

Both orchestras perform regularly in venues such as Leeds Town Hall, and have the opportunity to go on tour on alternating years. It is not necessary to have taken any exams to apply to audition, however it is suggested that applicants are playing at around Grade 5 standard for CLYWO and Grade 6 for CLYO.

Please note that auditions will run subject to guidance from both the Government and Leeds City Council, and may need to be cancelled at short notice. We will have social distancing and hygiene policies in place on the day, and all applicants will be made aware of these in advance. Please also be aware that while we are auditioning for the 20-21 academic year, we do not yet have a confirmed date for a return to rehearsals.

City of Leeds Youth Orchestra Auditions – Second Call for Specific Instruments

The City of Leeds Youth Orchestra are putting out a second call for the following instruments:

Double bass
Bassoon

Auditions for these instruments will take place at the beginning of September.

If you play any of the instruments above and would like to audition for CLYO, please fill out the application form (pdf) and return either by email or to the address below.

The deadline has been extended for Double Bass and Bassoon players – please send in an application by Friday 24th August.

City of Leeds Youth Orchestra and City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra Auditions

The City of Leeds Youth Orchestra (CLYO) and City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra (CLYWO) are now accepting applications to audition for 2018-19. Both orchestras are for young musicians of a school age who play at a high standard and are used to playing in a group. CLYO is for orchestral instrument players, and CLYWO is for brass, woodwind and percussion players.

You may choose to audition for one or both of these groups, if you choose to audition for both you will only be required to audition once.

Date: Saturday 16th June 2018, with further auditions on subsequent Friday evenings if necessary.
Time: Auditions will run all day on Saturday, with slots assigned after all applications have been returned.
Location: Farsley Farfield Primary School, Cote Lane, LS28 5ED
