City of Leeds Youth Music Open Rehearsals for Primary Students

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting open rehearsals for our City of Leeds Youth Music (CLYM) groups again this year. We invite students to join us at our open rehearsal to experience what our groups have to offer. This is a great opportunity for young musicians to explore new musical opportunities and meet like-minded peers. We look forward to welcoming new faces to our CLYM family through these open rehearsals.

Tuesday 7th October
Leeds Schools’ Wind Orchestra, 5:15-6:45pm. Grades 1 – 4.

Friday 10th October
Leeds Schools’ Brass Ensemble, 5:15-6:15pm. Grades 1 – 4.

Leeds Schools’ String Orchestra, 6:30-8pm. Grades 1 – 4.

All rehearsals take place at Pudsey Civic Hall, LS28 5TA. Please contact educ.artforms@leeds.gov.uk for any further information and to book a place.

Leeds Youth Jazz-Rock Orchestra, 5-7pm. Grade 5+. Trombone and tenor saxophone spaces still available.

Leeds Schools’ Wind Orchestra, 5:15-6:45pm. Grades 1 – 4.

Friday 10th October
Roots Alive Folk Group, 5-6:30pm. Grades 4+. Guitar, strings and woodwind. There are also opportunities for keyboard players to try out the piano accordion and for drummers to try out the cajon or Irish bodhran.

Leeds Schools’ Brass Ensemble, 5:15-6:15pm. Grades 1 – 4.

Leeds Schools’ String Orchestra, 6:30-8pm. Grades 1 – 4.

City of Leeds Youth Training Orchestra, 6:45-8:45pm. Grades 4 – 6.

The new ‘Find Your Ensemble’ feature shows all the ensembles. You can use the filters to select your instrument, ability and age and it will show you only the ensembles which apply to you. From there, you can click on each ensemble for more information, including links to enrol.

Funded by ArtForms, the local authority’s music and arts service, the event will feature over 1000 young performers from across the city, representing over 125 schools.

This year’s concert will be held on the 1st July, and marks a triumphant comeback for the bi-annual event, which has become a cherished highlight in Leeds’ cultural calendar. Designed to showcase the talent and hard work of children from both primary and secondary schools, the evening will be a true testament to the power of music in bringing people together.
