We have two online training sessions coming up, designed for teachers to access easily.

• D&T: subject knowledge and skills development – CAD and electrical systems

Tuesday 25 April 2023, 2.00pm – 4.00pm

• Art: subject knowledge and skills development – collage and print

Wednesday 3 May 2023, 2.00pm – 4.00pm

If you are new to the role/s of Art and/or D&T subject leader, then these training courses may be of interest:

Art, Craft and Design: Curriculum Planning, Thursday 14th October 2021, 14:00 – 16:00

Design and Technology: Curriculum planning, Wednesday 20th October 2021, 14:00 – 16:00

Both training sessions will refer to the National Curriculum and the revised Ofsted Framework and will consider the key elements required for an effective Art or Design and Technology curriculum.   The training will be delivered online, but there are practical activities and opportunities to talk to other delegates.

Primary Arts Leaders Network

All primary teachers with an interest in the arts and arts education are welcome to join us at this free, half-termly online network.  Each session takes place from 3.45pm – 4.45pm   The dates for 2021/22 are as follows:

We are delighted to announce that we are repeating the following courses in January 2021:

Art, Craft and Design: Curriculum Planning, 20th January 2021, 2pm – 4pm

Design and Technology: Curriculum Planning, 28th January 2021, 2pm – 4pm

The sessions are targeted at primary Art/D&T leaders and will provide delegates with the essential ‘need to know’ aspects of each subject. The session will be delivered on Zoom, which includes practical activities and the opportunity to network with colleagues from other schools.

11th March 2020, 1pm – 4pm, Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills

This is a hands on training session which will explore the knowledge and skills required for the mechanical systems element of the primary Design and Technology Programme of Study.  The session is designed to develop delegates knowledge of what mechanical systems looks like in Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2.  There will be a series of practical activities, so that subject leaders feel confident and empowered to be able to support their colleagues back at school.
