The Leeds Young Filmamkers Golden Owl Awards is an annual event which celebrates and showcases high quality filmamking by children and young people in Leeds.

If you’ve been making films at school, with a community group or even by yourself and you are aged under 19 (or 25 if you have additional needs), you could be eligible to enter your film into the Leeds Young Filmmakers Golden Owl Awards 2018!

The awards ceremony takes place in March at Leeds Town Hall. The deadline for film entries is the 2nd February 2018, so don’t delay and submit your film!

2nd November 2017, 2.30pm – 5pm

Integrating the use of film within your classroom can help your pupil’s develop a range of skills which can then be used in lots of areas of their learning and their life.

This session will be led by film practitioner, Craig Lawson, and will focus on developing delegates skills in using iPads and iMovie to make films.  For further information and to book you place, please visit Leeds for Learning

It might be eight months away, but we’re already getting giddy about the Leeds Young Filmmakers Golden Owl Awards 2018!   For all of you who like to plan ahead, we are pleased to announce that the award ceremony will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 27th March 2018.   The event will be held in Leeds Town Hall.

Any young person from Leeds, who has made a short film since January 2017 can submit to this competition and we welcome submissions from schools, community groups and individuals.  The deadline for submissions is Friday 2nd February 2018.

We are now accepting entries for the next Golden Owls awards so if you have a film that has been made by young people since January 2016 or if you are planning to make one before February 2017 then you can enter it!

Using film in the classroom can be an effective way of engaging your pupils and enhancing subjects across the curriculum. This hands on session is designed to provide you with the practical skills and confidence to support your pupils to make films, using an iPad and iMovie. Suitable for KS1 and KS2 teachers. This session will be led by Craig Lawson, an Independent Film Producer with over twenty years’ experience of the media industries and is supported by Into Film.

The deadline is nearly here for entries to the Leeds Young Filmmakers Golden Owl Awards 2016! So if you have any films that:

• Have been created by young people aged 19 or below (25 for young people with special needs). This means involvement in devising the script or story, filming and editing.
• Have been created since January 2015
• Is a maximum of 10 minutes- anything from a minute is long enough!
• Contains no copyrighted material

…then that film can be entered in to the competition. It can be a film that was made for coursework, drama studies, media studies, dance studies or one that was made for an after school club. Or even one that was made just for fun!
