As well as our teaching in schools during the week, we also have seven citywide Music Centres across Leeds each Saturday morning, with over 1500 learners between them.

While we aren’t currently able to meet as normal, all music centres have sent out a Google Drive link with weekly lesson plans and resources that have been put together for each class. If you haven’t received this yet, please get in touch with your Head of Centre.

Wetherby Music Centre have also shared this lovely video from their staff – can you spot any familiar faces?

As well as this, Horsforth Music Centre‘s Concert Band have been very busy recording two songs in isolation. You can listen to them on the Facebook page.

North Leeds Music Centre continue to share daily musical inspiration from their twitter account – they have shared dozens of ways you can listen, engage, and get involved with music from home.

We also have more Home Learning resources here – free to use for both Music Centre members and those learning elsewhere!

Music Centres Update

All ArtForms Music Centres are sadly closed at present due to the Coronavirus pandemic. At the moment, considering the ever-changing national picture, it is difficult to say how long this will be for; however it seems unlikely that we will be returning before the Autumn term.

In the meantime, we are keen to find ways of keeping in touch with our students. If you are a student at a Music Centre, you should already have received an update by email giving links to online lesson resources tailored towards your class or group. If you haven’t had this update, please contact your individual Music Centre (contact details here), or the ArtForms office at educ.artforms@leeds.gov.uk.

Sounds of the Orchestra Family Concert

City of Leeds Youth Training Orchestra and Horsforth Music Centre,

in collaboration with Horsforth Walk of ART, ArtForms and St. Margaret’s Church,

present

An immersive experience of the orchestra for children and their families.

Explore the orchestra through a journey of iconic film music performed by City of Leeds Youth Training Orchestra. Audience participation guaranteed: explore music through movement, imagination and activities; get up close to real instruments and even have a go yourself!

The concert will also feature performances from Horsforth Featherbank Primary School and Horsforth Children’s Centre.

Tickets: Adults £4 – Children £3 – Under 2s FREE (Family ticket price capped at £10)
