An audience with Abel Selaocoe

We are delighted to announce that a fantastic opportunity has arisen to see cellist Abel Selaocoe at Stylus, the Leeds University Union on the 4th November 2023, 5-6pm. The evening will include a 40 minute performance and a Q and A session. This would be a perfect opportunity for any GSCE or A level students, or indeed young musicians.  LMEP has commissioned this performance ahead of his scheduled evening concert at Stylus Abel Selaocoe & The Bantu Ensemble – Leeds University Union Events (leedsunionevents.com).

Abel is a South African cellist who made his solo BBC Proms debut in 2021 and has worked with several orchestras around the UK. More information about him can be found here Abel Selaocoe.

This promises to be an amazing night and a great opportunity to see and talk to a professional performer up close.

This time of year is a busy time for all musicians! That means it’s a wonderful opportunity to see our fantastic children and young people performing in a range of choirs and ensembles. If you know children who are interested in joining an ensemble, this is a chance for them to see and hear what playing in an ensemble could be like.

Virtual Primary Music Leaders Network 2

We have set a date for our second Primary Music Leaders Network session of the year. This will take place via Zoom.

Date: Monday 1st February 2021
Time: 4:00-5:15pm
Location: Zoom

In this session we will be looking at how we can support non-specialist colleagues to teach practical music within the current coronavirus guidance. As always there will be an opportunity to discuss problems and solutions that colleagues may be experiencing. We will focus specifically on working with song and how to do so within the guidelines. This session will contain activities and resources for you and your colleagues to use in school as part of our Leeds Primary Schools’ Singing Support Pack – The Next Steps.
