This summer’s LSMA Festival will be a live online singalong based on songs we have used in previous LSMA Summer Festival concerts and LSMA Big Sings. You will be able to stay in your classrooms and join in via Zoom. This will replace the usual Big Sing and Festival Concert held at Leeds Town Hall, and will include a variety of songs to suit all Key Stage 2 pupils.

We will send out videos of the songs with learning and singalong tracks for your pupils to hear the songs in advance. We hope they will enjoy learning them!

This will culminate in a live online singalong on the afternoon of Wednesday 30^th June 2021 at 1:30.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 9th December from 1.30pm we are streaming a YouTube premiere of an interactive Christmas Big Singing and Listening event. This can be accessed by all schools in Leeds.

It will include a mixture of new and well known songs for pupils to learn in advance so that they can sing along on the 9th. The words and music will be available in advance and will also be on screen on the day. This concert is usually aimed at pupils from Years 5 and 6 but we think younger Key Stage 2 pupils will be able to join and enjoy many of these songs.

In addition to songs to sing along with, we hope to include some listening items from City of Leeds Youth Music groups to make it a truly celebratory event.

The Leeds Schools’ Music Association (LSMA) Festival Concert in June unfortunately had to be cancelled this year, so we thought it would be nice to look back on rehearsals from “the most wonderful time of the year”. Can you spot any familiar faces?

After Easter we will review the situation with regards to the Big Play scheduled for Tuesday 16th June and the Big Sing scheduled for Wednesday 17th June, both at Leeds Town Hall.

Each year, the LSMA also sells recordings of the concert as a memento for those who took part that year – they also make wonderful Christmas presents for family and friends who were unable to attend!
