This  session is designed to give an overview of the key aspects of leading Art, Craft and Design in a primary school context.  With reference to the Art, Craft and Design Programme of Study and the Ofsted Framework, delegates will consider planning, progression and assessment in Art.   Although the training will be delivered through Teams, the session will be hands on and there will be a number of practical tasks.   These are designed for non- Art specialists and will support the development of delegate’s skills, knowledge and confidence in Art.   Examples of good practice will be shared and there will be lots of opportunity for questions and discussion.

The Virtual Primary Arts Leader Network is aimed at school based colleagues with responibility for leading an arts subject. This will be a chance to hear about upcoming opportunities; share experiences and make contact with colleagues in a similar role from across the city.

It is free of charge and will be delivered through Zoom, so you can access the Network at a location of your choice!

Art creates wonder, awe and inspiration. Design meets a need and can make people’s lives better. This training course will explore where and how ‘design’ fits into the Art, Craft and Design Programme of Study. It will look at how design can be taught in a meaningful way, that is distinct from Design and Technology. There will be practical activities to support subject leaders to develop their knowledge and understanding of this aspect of the Art, Craft and Design National Curriculum.

This session will be delivered by Anna Pickard a practising teacher, artist and art in education specialist who has taught art across Primary and Secondary schools for over 17 years.
