Every half term we deliver a free Primary Arts Network is for any Leeds primary teacher interested in finding out more about matters relating to arts and cultural teaching and learning.

As well as sharing local and national updates, there is a curriculum focus.  For our upcoming session we will be looking at recycled art.  The meeting will provide colleagues with the opportunity to develop their subject knowledge alongside networking and will be delivered through Teams.

Coming up:

Art: subject knowledge and skills development

Wednesday 1 February 2023, 1.30pm – 4.00pm, Henry Moore Institute

The focus of this face-to-face session will be on sculpture and working in 3D.  Using the National Curriculum as our starting point, we will explore this key artistic process through practical activities.   This will be an opportunity for art subject leaders to:

• develop their understanding of different sculpture processes
• expand their knowledge of artists who work in 3D
• consider what progression in sculpture looks like across KS1 and KS2
• explore the use of sketchbooks when working in 3D and how these can be used to inform assessment

Audience: primary art subject leaders; class teachers.

Primary Art Network: Tuesday 17th May 2022, 3.45pm – 4.45pm, online: the curriculum focus for this session is 3D. (FREE)

Sketchbooks in School: Tuesday 14th June 2022, 2pm – 4pm.  This session will be delivered face to face at Leeds Art Gallery.

Primary Art Network: Wednesday 6th July 2022, 3.45pm – 4.45pm, online: the curriculum focus for this session is supporting pupils to evaluate art. (FREE)

Primary Design and Technology (D&T)

D&T: Subject knowledge and skills development: Wednesday 11th May 2022, 2pm – 4pm, online.   The focus of this session is on Structures and Mechanical Systems.

D&T: Cooking in the Curriculum: Tuesday 7th June 2022, 9.30am – 1.30pm.  This session will be delivered face to face at Allerton CE Primary School.
