Our free Primary Arts Network is for any primary teacher interested in finding out more about matters relating to arts and cultural teaching and learning.

As well as sharing local and national updates, our curriculum focus for the session will be supporting pupils to talk about art.  The meeting will provide colleagues with the opportunity to develop their subject knowledge alongside networking and will be delivered through Teams.

For schools who want to work with an artist, but aren’t sure where to start, here is some helpful guidance .

If you want to create sculpture closer to home, you might be interested in the project Sculpture in Your School 2018 19with local artist Alan Pergusey.  He works with small groups of children to create 3D art using cardboard, newspaper and plaster.  For further information and to book this creative project, please visit  the ArtForms Arts Development service page on Leeds for Learning.

This half day training session is designed to develop teacher’s confidence in the the sculpture and 3D aspect of the primary Art, Craft and Design Programme of Study.  The session will include practical activites, alligned alongside the national curriculum.  There will also be the opportunity to find out more about the local sculpture offer and the Yorkshire Sculpture International.

Clay is a fantastic material for children to use. It’s easy to manipulate and because of its heritage can be used to enhance areas across the curriculum. This session is designed to provide teachers with hints, tips and techniques to ensure pupils clay creations are a lasting legacy of their learning.
