Fun, Games and History! is a training session designed to explore how familiar games, stories and children’s knowledge of where they live can be used in an creative and engaging way to teach local history, geography and citizenship.

Clay is a fantastic material for children to use. It’s easy to manipulate and because of its heritage can be used to enhance areas across the curriculum. This session is designed to provide teachers with hints, tips and techniques to ensure pupils clay creations are a lasting legacy of their learning.

Delivered by experienced visual artist, Lou Sumray, this session will explore how sketchbooks can be used as a rich resource, for recording and documenting pupils ideas and inspiration. Used effectively, sketchbooks can be embedded across the curriculum and can allow children to focus their thoughts, think creatively and reflect on their learning. This is a hands on, practical session, designed to give you the confidence to develop the use of sketchbooks in your own classroom.

If you’re looking for a fun and creative way for your pupils to get involved in an enterprise project then this is training for you!   In partnership with Leeds College of Art we are delivering a practical session in printmaking, exploring how you could be creating cards and wrapping paper in time for Christmas. Leeds College of Art have a partnership with Hallmark, so will be able to give delegates a unique insight to the relationship between ‘maker’ and business.

The session will take place on Tuesday 11th October, Leeds College of Art, 3pm – 5.30pm.

This practical session will be hosted and delivered by Leeds College of Art, and is designed to:
– Develop your knowledge and practical skills in printmaking
– Explore ways in which you can use printmaking to create a class/school business in time for Christmas

The session will enable you to make the links between an art activity and a real life context enabling you to develop a project back at school with a clear purpose which supports core curriculum subjects. You will have the opportunity to work with the art college’s resources and materials but everything covered in the session can be easily transferred to a classroom setting.

Computer Aided Design (CAD) is an integral aspect of the product design process. Using ICT software, CAD enables pupils to model, adapt and develop their ideas. It helps them to visualise what their product will actually look like and replicates the design process as it happens in the ‘real world’. This is a practical session, allowing you the opportunity to test out a range of suitable software which you can then use back in your school setting.

This twilight teacher training is delivered by experienced teacher and artist, Anna Pickard, and will explore how felt making can be used across the curriculum providing a vehicle for literacy, history, geography and science.
