This training course is designed to develop and deepen primary school teachers’ knowledge and understanding of the Art, Craft and Design Programme of Study. The session will explore collage and print and will include:

• a range of practical activities;
• an exploration of progression of skills across Key Stages;
• reference to relevant artists

Our free Primary Arts Network is for any primary teacher interested in finding out more about matters relating to arts and cultural teaching and learning.

As well as sharing local and national updates, our curriculum focus for the session will be Texture (one of the seven elements of art).  The meeting will provide colleagues with the opportunity to develop their subject knowledge alongside networking and will be delivered through Teams.

15.45 – 16.45

The virtual network will be an opportunity for Primary Art/s Leaders to hear about upcoming opportunities; share experiences and make contact with colleagues in a similar role from across the city.   The network is aimed at primary school teachers who have responsibility and/or an interest in the ‘arts’ subjects.  It is free of charge and will be delivered through Zoom, so you can access the network at a location of your choice!

Each of the networks follow a similar format and they meet three times a year.  The first session is a full day and will provide a strategic overview of the subject, the role of the subject leader and a focus on curriculum, assessment and progression.  Sessions two and three, will hone in on specific aspects of the Art, Design and Technology or Dance programmes of study.

The Primary Art Leader Network will include:

• Session 1, Autumn: Primary Art, Craft and Design
• Session 2, Spring: Excellent Design in Art
• Session 3, Summer: Excellent Craft in Art

The Primary Design and Technology Leader Network will include:

• Session 1, Autumn: Primary Design and Technology
• Session 2, Spring: Practical Design and Technology (mechanical systems)
• Session 3, Summer: Textiles Through Design and Technology

The Primary Dance Leader Network will include:

• Session 1, Autumn: Primary Dance
• Session 2, Spring: Let’s Dance (after school)
• Session 3, Summer: Inspired Dance
