Our free Primary Arts Network is for any primary teacher interested in finding out more about matters relating to arts and cultural teaching and learning.

As well as sharing local and national updates, our curriculum focus for the session will be Architecture.  The meeting will provide colleagues with the opportunity to develop their subject knowledge alongside networking and will be delivered through Teams.

This training course is designed to develop and deepen primary school teachers’ knowledge and understanding of the Art, Craft and Design Programme of Study. The session will explore collage and print and will include:

• a range of practical activities;
• an exploration of progression of skills across Key Stages;
• reference to relevant artists

For Key Stage 2 pupils, the use of sketchbooks is a National Curriculum requirement. Used effectively, sketchbooks can be embedded across the curriculum and can allow children to focus their thoughts, think creatively and reflect on their learning. Using a sketchbook can be beneficial for children of all ages.

This virtual session will explore how sketchbooks can be developed as a rich resource, for recording, researching and documenting pupils’ ideas and inspiration.  It is designed to give you the confidence to develop the use of sketchbooks in your own classroom.

Delegates will:

• Explore how a sketchbook can be used to evidence teaching and learning in art.
• Undertake a practical activity, modelling an approach.
• Share ideas and best practice in the use of sketchbooks.

Suitable for primary Art subject leaders or class teachers, this is a great opportunity to develop your practical art skills.

Drawing can be a fantastic tool for communication and can be used in subjects across the curriculum. Get Drawing! will explore skills progression in drawing through a range of practical skills and activities.  The Art in the Natural Environment session will highlight the connection between art and science and will provide delegates with the opportunity to experience the benefits and advantages of outdoor learning.
