• Lost your practise mojo? Check out this video of handy hints that the Brass and Woodwind team have created.
• If you need some tips for GCSE Composition, the National Curriculum team have got you covered.
• Why not start a family drumming circle, with this guide on making and playing your own djembe at home from the Steel Pan and Mixed Percussion team?
• Expand your repertoire with dozens of songs to learn and play from the Guitar and Ukulele team.
• If you’ve got two or more strings players in the house, why not try Mrs Smith’s trio for violin, viola and cello? Just look under the red or orange award on the Strings page.

Other departments are also adding new resources each week, so please do keep an eye on our Music Home Learning Resources pages for more lessons, exercises and pieces to try. We’ve also added some sheet music for Over The Rainbow which we’re playing each Thursday at 8pm to show appreciation for all of the hard work our NHS workers are doing at the minute.

If you need some musical inspiration, why not check out North Leeds Music Centre who are sharing daily inspirational videos and links on their Twitter page. All Music Centre students should also have received an email with a link to online lessons developed specifically for their ensemble or class – if you haven’t had this, please get in touch with your Head of Centre – contact details can be found on each Music Centre page.

Ollie Tunmer from The Beat Goes On is posting regular rhythm warm ups and exercises during the crisis on his YouTube Channel – great for a bit of movement, rhythm and pulse work!

2. Koo Koo Kanga Roo
Koo Koo Kanga Roo – Great for Kids of all ages, stay active, learn the dance moves, keep the rhythm and follow the pulse to the music. Our favourites are Dinosaur Stomp and Unicorns R Real!

3. Musication
The Musication Youtube Channel has lots of really good videos to use in their Percussion Play-Along Playlist. Get the pots and pans out and get a few children in school or the whole family at home involved!!

4. Mr D. Morley
A youtube channel that includes lots of useful short videos ranging from how to read notes to the history of rock music.

5. Brian Gossard
A youtube channel built by Brian Gossard that includes lots of educational videos explaining how rests and different dynamics work.

As part of the project, every school in Leeds will receive a song book (with accompanying video footage); a full class set of percussion instruments and a CPD session.   Schools can access the CPD sessions at:

• 10th March – Farsley Springbank Primary School – Farsley and Armley clusters
• 17th March – Greenmount Primary School – Beeston cluster
• 24th March – Cookridge Holy Trinity C of E Primary School – Cookridge cluster
• 31st March – Crossley Street Primary School – Wetherby/EPOS cluster
• 21st April – Westerton Primary School – Ardsley & Tingley and Morley clusters
• 28th April – Pudsey Civic Hall – session offered to all Leeds primary schools. This is currently fully booked, however please sign up to the waiting list here. We will offer first refusal when we put on the second one of these in June.
• 19th May – Otley The Whartons Primary School – Otley cluster
• 2nd June – St Bartholomew’s C of E Primary School – Armley cluster
• TBC Colton Primary Sschool – Templenewsam Halton and Seacroft Manston clusters
• TBC – Final Leeds wide session
