On Monday 8 July 2024, 150 students attended the annual Leeds Symphony Orchestra concert which was held at Bishop Young C of E Academy. In addition to pupils from the host school, there were also students from Abbey Grange C of E Academy, Wetherby High School and Ralph Thoresby High School. The evening included a performance of Schubert’s ‘Unfinished Symphony No. 8’, together with lots of analysis and ‘audience participation’ led by the orchestra’s conductor, John Lyon. It was clear that the audience thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the opportunity to hear live music.
Student feedback included “Listening to each section broken down will help me think about our GCSE set works and how I should revise each section.”
