Music Sessions for Children with Additional Needs (SEND)

For SILCS, Resourced Provision and SEND pupils in mainstream

The ArtForms Inclusive Music Team is made up of musician teachers and music therapists who are dedicated to providing and promoting musical opportunities for children with additional needs. They work with pupils who have:

  • communication difficulties including autism
  • learning difficulties
  • physical difficulties
  • complex Multiple Learning Needs (CMLN)
  • social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
  • sensory impairments including deaf, hearing impaired, blind or visually impaired.

SEND Music Group Teaching

Flexible music sessions for classes of any age in special schools, resourced provision, or as nurture-style groups in mainstream settings.

These can be run in a whole class instrumental style with ukuleles or percussion; or with class singing, using props, and playing a selection of classroom and specialist instruments.

Small Group Instrumental Teaching

We offer tuition for pupils to learn guitar, keyboard or drum kit. Other instruments are available on request.

Music Therapy

Music Therapy sessions are one-to-one and are designed to support pupils with communication or emotional problems. In these sessions pupils develop new ways of expressing their ideas and feelings through the use of music. Pair and small group music therapy can be arranged by agreement with the music therapist.
