The West Yorkshire Music Hub is pleased to announce that the Leeds Youth
Music Festival is back for 2025!
The following collection of events across June and July are specifically for young people to experience and get into music. Come along to some of the events below and support some of the best young musicians from across Leeds!
6th June – Leeds Sessions, Leeds International Piano Competition @ Chapel FM
On the first Sundays in both June (1st) and July (6th) from 14:00 – 17:00, Chapel FM are running their Leeds Sessions which the LIPC help to support. These are hosted at Chapel FM and are great platforms for any pianists or anyone who plays music with a piano (a band, accompanied by etc.) to get experience of playing in front of an audience.
19th June – YAMSEN Workshops, Broomfield School
20th June – YAMSEN Workshops, Southfield Co-op Academy
YAMSEN are a group of people dedicated to and expert in creating inclusive opportunities around music. Their members comprise teachers, volunteers, artists, musicians, non-musicians, and other participants with and without additional needs. 20th June – City of Leeds Youth Music Summer Concert, Cornerstone Baptist Church
Featuring: City of Leeds Youth Training Orchestra, Leeds Schools’ Brass Ensemble, Leeds Schools’ String Orchestra and Leeds Youth Singers. Tickets here.
21st June – North Leeds Music Centre Summer Festival, Allerton C of E Primary
See the musicians from the North Leeds Music Centre perform and take a look at the classes available (for all ages). 9am-12pm.
22nd June – Diocese of Leeds Girls Choir Festival, Leeds Cathedral
FREE public concert given by the girls of our Cathedral Choir and parish choirs from across the Diocese of Leeds! More information here on their website.
28th June – Rothwell Music Centre Summer Activity, Rodillian Academy
See the musicians from the North Leeds Music Centre perform and take a look at the classes available (for all ages). Email rothwell.music.centre@leeds.gov.uk for more details.

28nd June – Diocese of Leeds Boys Choir Festival, Leeds Cathedral
FREE public concert given by the boys of our Cathedral Choir and parish choirs from across the Diocese of Leeds! More information here on their website.
1st July – ArtForms Leeds Youth Music Festival Celebration Concert, First Direct Arena
The biggest event in Leeds for young musicians; see over 1,000 performers singing in choirs and playing in orchestras at the Leeds First Direct Arena. Tickets here.
4th July – Open Mic, Leeds International Piano Competition @ Leeds Playhouse
On Friday the 4th, 11th and 18th of July the LIPC are running an open mic series at and with Leeds Playhouse in their foyer. Please email info@leedspiano.com for more information.
5th July – Fuse Festival, The Music Box, Pudsey Park
A live music stage in Pudsey Park for a day of music from local musicians and acts, free arts workshops from local artists and practitioners as well as stalls featuring produce from local traders and community organisations. More info here.

8th July – ArtForms Wind End of Year Concert, Pudsey Civic Hall
A great chance to see our wind ensembles, featuring the City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra and the Leeds Schools’ Wind Orchestra. The concert starts at 7:30pm. Tickets here.

9th, 11th, 12th July – Seussical Jr. The Musical – Leeds Youth Opera [various venues]
Join Leeds Youth Opera on their spectacular summer tour! It’s going to be super fun and we are helping launch the summer reading challenge across Leeds! See here for more information and to book tickets.
11th July – Big Samba Performance, Pudsey Civic Hall [Leeds schools only]
We are very excited to invite Leeds schools to our annual Big Samba event. The two sessions – 10:00-11:30 or 13:00-14:30 – will be held at Pudsey Civic Hall. Tickets are sold out for this event. 11th July – South Leeds Music Centre Ensemble Day, Cockburn School
For ages 8+. This day will bring together children and young people from all the local schools for a day of ensemble playing. Information about the day will be distributed via school teachers.

Build your confidence and skills, meet and work with like-minded people and experience a taste of conservatoire education at our Summer Academy. More information (and how to apply) here on their website.
29th July – Summer Music Camp, Leeds Junior Conservatoire
This one-day camp is perfect for children and young people aged 8-14 who are interested in learning about music and creating their own song. They will get hands-on experience in songwriting and leave with a recording of their song. More information (and how to apply) here on their website.
