2020 Primary D&T Subject Leader Training Package

ArtForms Arts Development are delighted to be able to offer schools three training sessions targeted at primary D&T Subject Leaders / Coordinators. The schedule of the training is:

– Autumn Term 2020: 2 hour online CPD course;
– Spring Term 2021: 1 full day course (hopefully face to face, but this may change due to Covid 19 restrictions);
– Summer Term 2021: 0.5 day course (hopefully face to face, but this may change due to Covid 19 restrictions).

The training is designed to develop primary D&T Subject Leaders curriculum and subject knowledge, alongside practical skills development. Each training course can be purchased individually on a PAYG basis. Alternatively the training can be booked as a package of three for £380. Session One: Design and Technology: Curriculum Planning

21st October 2020, 14:00-16:00

What does it mean to be an Design and Technology subject leader? Using the National Curriculum as a starting point, participants will consider how to plan a design and technology curriculum across key stages which supports the progression of pupils’ knowledge and skills. A practical aspect, will explore how D&T can support a ‘recovery curriculum’. Subject specific research will be highlighted and shared. Session Two: Design and Technology: Subject Knowledge and Skills Development

2nd March 2021, 9:00 – 15:00

This training day is designed to develop teachers’ knowledge and understanding of the Design and Technology Programme of Study. This practical day will explore the practical application of different areas of the D&T curriculum. Each activity will identify the key skills and knowledge that should be taught in Key Stage 1 and 2. Session Three: Design and Technology: Cooking in the Curriculum

21st May 2021, 13:00 – 16:00

Delegates will learn practical skills to teach children of all ages to prepare and cook healthy nutritious recipes in line with the statutory requirements for the design and technology curriculum. The course will cover skill progression, lesson planning, assessment and ensure delegates are confident to teach a wide range of cooking skills safely, including chopping techniques. For more information about this course please visit the course description on the Leeds for Learning website.
