City of Leeds Youth Music Auditions 2019

The City of Leeds Youth Orchestra and City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra are now accepting applications for audition for all instruments for 2019-20.

Please complete the application form, taking care to read the attached audition information sheet, and return it no later than 2pm on Thursday 30th May 2019. Applications can be returned by email to Catherine at catherine.lloyd@leeds.gov.uk, or by post to ArtForms, Pudsey Civic Hall, Dawson’s Corner, Leeds, LS28 5TA. Audition slots will be allocated in the first week of June.

About City of Leeds Youth Orchestra:

CLYO is a 100-strong group of young orchestral musicians playing at the highest standards. The orchestra is conducted by Dougie Scarfe, and welcomes string, woodwind, brass and percussion players of approximately Grade 6 standard and above. Generally members are between 13 and 19 years old. CLYO play the full range of symphonic repertoire and perform regularly in venues such as Leeds Town Hall. CLYO members also have the opportunity to go on tour every two years: in 2016 the orchestra toured the Czech Republic, and in July 2018 they visited Italy. The orchestra recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with a celebration concert in Leeds Town Hall.

About City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra:

City of Leeds Youth Wind Orchestra play a broad range of music: from transcriptions and arrangements of classical works to contemporary music written for wind bands, music from theatre and film as well as pop and jazz. The current age range of the group is 11-18 and we play at around Grade 5-6 level and above. CLYWO performs regularly, both in their own concerts and in collaboration with other groups across Leeds. In July 2019 they will be going on tour to the Rhineland, Germany.
