Roots Alive

Roots Alive rehearse 5-6.30pm on Fridays at Pudsey Civic Hall, LS28 5TA.

If you are interested in joining this group please email educ.artforms@leeds.gov.uk.

Roots Alive returns on Friday 15th September!

If you would like to attend a trial rehearsal to see if Roots Alive is for you, we are holding open rehearsals on 26th January and 3rd May.

Roots Alive play traditional and folk music from both Britain and around the world, on a range of instruments – mainly strings (e.g. violins, guitars and mandolins) and woodwind (especially flutes and whistles), but also including hand percussion and accordions. We also regularly travel – in Summer 2018 we went an exchange to Chemnitz, Germany, to partner with a local music school there. They then came to visit us in March 2019.

Most members are fluent on their instruments and have a willingness / ability to play by ear or memory. We don’t hold auditions, but do encourage prospective members to join us for a trial rehearsal.
