The Leeds Youth Music Festival has now begun.  If your school is not involved in any of the events or activities that are taking place this month then here are some online opportunities that you may wish to sign up to –

Brazilian Sounds from Borges Machado – Friday 24th June 1.30pm-2.30pm 

This is a FREE online livestream performance event for all schools in Leeds.  Borges Machado are two Brazilian musicians who perform a mix of songs from the great composers of Brazilian popular music.  Styles include Samba, Baião, Salsa and Ciranda.  The performance is specifically aimed at Primary schools in partnership with LMEP.

WoodjamThursday 14th July 1.15pm-2.15pm

This is an opportunity for all Whole Class Ukulele groups.  LMEP, in partnership with Norfolk Music Hub are delighted to invite young people from across the country to perform alongside the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.  Resources for the event are provided by the Ukulele Orchestra in conjunction with Charanga.

The Firebird – English Touring Opera’s new digital opera for children – available now.

This piece is an entirely free educational resource, based on the traditional Russian fable.  It is created for children to engage with and to enjoy learning about poetry and literature through opera.  With words by Michael Rosen, The Firebird brings together singers, instrumentalists and puppeteers in an atmospheric and enthralling children’s tale.
