An Interactive Performance Event for Key Stage 1 from Music Connect fully funded by Leeds Music Education Partnership (LMEP)
On Friday 25th March Music Connect, led by ArtForms, hosted our fifth annual Little Sing for Key Stage 1. More than 400 children attended the event from 14 primary schools.
The Little Sing is an immersive Musical Experience for children where they are the performers as well as the audience.
This year the theme was “A Journey At Sea” and saw the children rowing boats out to sea, surviving a storm, exploring underneath the ocean and partying on a desert island. Each scene had it’s own, Key Stage 1 appropriate, songs and activities. There was a band made up of our brilliant ArtForms Music teachers who presented the activities and sang and accompanied the songs. The children loved the session of singing, playing instruments and moving and it seems that the staff did too.
Here’s what some of the schools had to say:
‘The children had an amazing time. The combination of the use of instruments and movement were perfect for our year 1 class. The group were interactive and very animated! Loved it!’ Stanningley Primary School
‘It was engaging for the children and the costumes and props were fantastic. A good mix of sitting down and standing up and moving about so that the children didn’t get restless.’ Harehills Primary
‘The session was delivered at a good pace to hold the children’s interest. The event was visually stimulating and the use of the backdrop was lovely. It was great for children to see a live band and to join in with the songs, actions and instruments.’ Cockburn Haigh Road
